Blake Browning

As far as Heros go there are many ways one defines a hero.

Joe The Boss would ask that you take some time to read the page below. This was written by Blake in his own words and maybe an insight to some who have asked about him, whether they know him or not. He has touched many of us, family and friends alike as well as giving us an appreciation for life to live it everyday to the fullest.

Please take a few minutes to read the following words from a true Hero in my eyes:

A Hero In You - By Blake Browning

A Hero In You

August eighteenth two-thousand seven was the day that a heroic journey started. Breaking the fifth cervical vertebrae and bruising the spinal cord because of the pressure from the burst of the vertebrae causing paralysis from the neck down. The heroic part of this journey was proving the doctors wrong and about ten days later after being put on a trek to be kept alive and breathing arms began to move astonishing the doctors and family members. This was not going to stop anything, wanting to strive for the best condition possible.

This life changing experience was a freak accident for everyone, making awareness that breaking your neck is unnoticed and can be prevented with caution of pads for football players. Nobody plans to break their neck and wanting to be paralyzed because there is not one day that goes by those thoughts of the future and plans have been changed by one mistake that changes your life and other lives around you. Breaking your neck causes depression, dependant on family, friends, mobility and especially feeling.

Many obstacles were brought to the life of this vibrant fifteen year old young man.  Working hard to earn a baseball scholarship, doing well in school and just becoming the independent man he wanted to become came to a crashing halt. Breaking his neck and many other obstacles in the way, was not the only thing against his life, so were the doctors. Saying words hard to comprehend and bringing down the spirit and faith of the family.

Being the only one paralyzed in the family and going through something so life changing and threatening family members were supportive e but did not have the right words to keep spirits up and nonstop tears from running down my cheeks. Meeting many experienced and people with prior injuries helped to recognize how fortunate or unfortunate some people are.

Affections were definitely involved and still involved with this journey. Family, best friends, and girl friend all wanted to help with the things that were unable to be done such as pushing, bathing, dressing, and just being there in person to see faces helped spirits.

The qualities to have helped through this journey and to be so heroic were determination, drive, and hard work. Determination comes from the heart and to overcome such horrible obstacles you must use your heart and drive to follow your dreams even if you have a sudden accident. The only thing that stops you from overcoming harsh and unexpected incidents is your mind. You must ignore the negative and use the positive things to keep striving towards your goals; it just takes DETERMINATION and heart.

The hero that I would compare myself to would be Jesus, the reason why is because I believed he saved me not only from death but from becoming paralyzed from the neck down and move a wheelchair with my mouth.

At the present time Joe The Boss is currently working on a song entitled "Hero" this will be available for download only with proceeds going to the Browning family.

The band hopes to play this song at some of the upcoming shows.
