The Fix- Caro, Gonzales,

The Fix- Ron's notes
During the recording of the CD we were told that we had too many slow songs, At that point we tried our hand at going back to our past.
Having a slight rock back ground i thought i would call up some ghosts from the past....IE...hard rock era. With Marks awesome guitar work it really rocks.
Song has a simple rock groove, Ivan and Damian's touch on the chorus really moved it. The song actually change titles...from "The Fix" to "All of Your Love"
and back to "The Fix". Really a crowd song...as the playing live is our Fix...get it...

Passion and Pain- Caro,Gonzales

Passion and Pain- Ron's Notes:

The title track from the CD, this song was written all around the opening grove. It just felt good, and was one of the songs that really wrote itself.
The break in the middle of the song was really a mistake gone right cause lets face it I am note that good of a writer.
The song is about the making of the CD, it was all Passion and Pain....
I love the insert lead at the beginning, Mark really had a great idea with that..ala VH....Vocally it is one of my favorites from Ivan..total Paul Rodgers..one of my personal favorites.
Cause" its the sound of love"

Daydreamer- Heredia,King

Daydreamer Rons Notes:
You always love the songs you didnt write. This is no exception, I love this song. It is awesome really reminds me of early Journey.
Playing this song was really a blast, it seems i had a lot of freedom which made things really roll. Damian plays guitars on this as well as bass and keys,,,,,man he is just like Bugs Bunny.
Ivan really kicks on this one, and the breaks in the song are totally unexpected but play a big role...

Saying Goodbye- Caro,Gonzales

Saying Goodbye- Rons Notes

This song was one of the first songs written early on in the sessions. I actually really like writing ballads, there is a great challenge there.
the combination of melody and music has to be very emotional. Ivan I think sang his parts several times and when recording you all always afraid of lossing performance but with IK he always made me appreciate the new version.
I like the time signature used on this one something totally different for me as far as writing.
The song title says it all in what its about, so..."Try not to cry" sorry its about no one,,,hate to disappoint, Im not that sensitive..

Take Me Away- Heredia, King

Take me Away Rons notes:
One of my favorites songs from the CD..again I didnt write it.
When Ivan and Damian brought me a couple songs the first was "Scale" the other being "take me away"....I love the song from the start.
As i said before the druns seem to have a lot of freedom...great for me...
it reminds me of a Bad Company feel.....ala "Silver,Blue and Gold" "Running with the Pack"
Guitar work is a combination, Lead was done by MC Caro...but due to my mess up the rhythm needed to be re-done, this was Bill Fountain..awesome combo, makes you wonder...

Winds Of Change- Caro, Gonzales

Wind of change-
ron- This song was the first song we had actually started to record on. There were 2 other tracks, "Heat of the Night" and "Some Kind of Wonderful". Then Winds of Change was the first song that Ivan came into sing.
The initial vocals were mine but the song really lack a feel on vocals. Ivan was the key to all that, it was at that point that I knew how a good a lead singer could make these songs sound.
Damian was awesome on this, there was actually a keyboard solo that was removed in the mix...why I have no idea, but I am sure that it will reappear sometime in the future.
Guitar work was vital on this song, and Mark did it as only he could, nice easy flowing riff then really opens up into the pre-chorus...
Written about playing music again with a different out come....cause when you are passionate about something it really never goes away.

Scale These Walls- King Heredia

Scale These Walls-
This was one of the first songs submitted by Mr King and Mr D. All guitar work was performed by past member and great friend Todd Shiroma.
I couldnt see how and where the guitars would fit in here, sometimes you here a song and it just has a feel of where the guitar line lay, but I was really at a lose in this.
Todd came in and he has this ear for things i have no clue as to where he was going with it. Turned out great.
The tune has a nice relaxing feel to it, best way to listen to it, close your eyes...not while driving of course, and turn the lights down, and enjoy.
We experimented with the drums on this one and gave them real depth to the tom work..really cool, yeah I guess Mario has a good idea once in a while.

Without Your Love- M. Caro, R Gonzales

Without Your Love-

this was a typical blues song gone wrong, hahahahaha

it was actually a combination of tow different songs that just seem to fit together.

Ivan and myself split the vocals which i thought had a great effect  and a little differenet feel.

I think this lead on this song was typical Mark Caro..just sit back and rev it up and let it fly...awesome, see he stills rips....

Damian added a bass line that was totally cool, which i thought live this would be a cool song to play, but I havent won that battle....maybe dome day.

Back Into Your Heart- Caro, Gonzales, Heredia

Back into your Heart-

This is the only song of the original demo that made it to the CD. There are so many was to go with this song, and it could have been an endless

task but at some point we had to say " Stop Already"....I think the thing i like most about this song as it comes from a page out of David Fosters production book.

I have always been a huge Chicago fan and listening to the production that David used was a total influence on this song.

With maybe the exception of the guitar work which is more from our rock back ground. Ivan I think really captured the heart of this song and performed with alot of feeling.

I really dont know if we would attempt to try it live since there is tons of things happening but one never knows...
